One Family Towards Dignity

It is very heartwarming to see our Syrian refugee students return to their school seats after a year full of success and educational endeavors. Last year, MAPs was able to educate more than 5,000 boys and girls residing inside and outside the camps in Lebanon as part of its educational mission for the tenth year in a row.

We believe that delivering high-quality education is critical to inspiring children, building societies, and restructuring the new Syria. Our incredible achievements have been demonstrating to the world the value of investing in high-quality and innovative education. Having this vision in mind, we have been providing education in more than ten schools across Lebanon and enhancing the teaching skills of our teachers through training and workshops since 2013.

In addition to providing the standard educational package, we have offered a creative educational model based on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM education). This unique educational approach empowered us to earn the third Achievement Award globally at the World Robot Championship in Switzerland. This outstanding achievement was added to more than 85 local, regional, and international awards that MAPs triumphed over the past years.

Unfortunately, an educational catastrophe existed even before the start of the Lebanese economic crisis in 2019, during which around 250 thousand children were deprived of their right to education. This crisis has exacerbated the bitter educational reality of Syrian refugees in Lebanon and denied about 440,000 children access to education, according to UNICEF’s latest report.

The report also notes that "the challenges are enormous, most notably the lack of fuel, electricity, water, limited availability of money to pay teachers' salaries, and the inability of the most vulnerable families to bear basic expenses, including the cost of going to and from schools."

At MAPs, we strive to implement our unique student retention policy by providing dentistry, ophthalmology, other healthcare services, transportation compensation, food baskets, and books and stationery. This policy elevated the student commitment rate up to 95% in most MAPs schools.

This year we are aiming to educate more than 6000 children inside and outside the camps. Starting from this goal, we launched the campaign # Restoring Hope.

Syrian refugee children are our future. Those children who were deprived of their homeland Syria…those children who lost one or both of their parents…those children are our priority at MAPs.

At MAPs, we invest our efforts in supporting refugee children by launching projects that shape their social and psychological development.
